First Communications expands its high capacity optical transport network by offering services to Washington DC, Buffalo NY and Toronto Canada with plans to add additional routes to New York City, Philadelphia PA, Baltimore MD and Ashburn VA.
Akron, Ohio, September 7, 2010 – First Communications today announces the expansion of its 1G, 2.5G, 10G and 40G Optical Wave Transport services to Washington DC, Buffalo NY and Toronto Canada from any of the existing access points on its network. In addition, First Communications is scheduled to add additional access points in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Ashburn and New York City by the end of the 2010. Once completed, First Communications will be capable of providing high capacity, low latency optical transport services over its diverse fiber network to over twenty (20) access points located throughout the Midwest and Mid Atlantic region.

In addition to newly added and planned markets, customers can access the First Communications optical transport network through a variety of other cities located throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Illinois including Chicago, Newark, New York City, Binghamton, Cleveland, Akron, Pittsburgh, Johnstown, Altoona, Harrisburg, Reading and Morristown.
