BRING ON THE BROADBAND: FAIRPOINT ANNOUNCES THETFORD EXPANSION

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (September 15, 2010) – FairPoint Communications has announced the arrival of super-fast Internet service in Thetford.

FairPoint’s VantagePoint network, a fiber core, IP-based network, is now available to more than 200 additional homes and businesses along all or portions of these Thetford streets: Academy, Apple Tree, Buzzell Bridge, Five Corners, Garey, Godfrey, Hill, Houghton Hill, Library, Mud Pond, Needmoore, Poor Farm, Route 113, Sawnee Bean, Trussell, Tucker Hill and Whippoorwill.

With speed options as fast as 15Mbps, downloading entire movies will take seconds. Broadband service on the VantagePoint network provides customers with the ability to smoothly stream live video, play online games at lightning speeds and upload photos and large files with ease. Always-on broadband access provides almost instant connections to information, news and entertainment.

“VantagePoint is enabling us to expand broadband service into areas with no high-speed Internet access and provide faster broadband connections to existing service areas,” said Michael K. Smith, FairPoint State President for Vermont.

Since April 2008, FairPoint has invested more than $116 million in the communications infrastructure and technology to bring broadband to northern New England, including building over 700 miles of new fiber across the region.

In addition to this turn-up, FairPoint also began providing broadband in July to about 200 homes and businesses along all, or portions of, the following streets: All Seasons, Asa Burton, Berger, Burnham, Cadwell, Church, Depot, Hamilton, High Ridge, Lamphire Hill, Maple, Recordridge, River, Route 5, Sanborn, Shoestrap, Sugar House, Thetford, Wilmott and Wilson,

Internet packages start at $35.99. For additional information about FairPoint High-Speed Internet prices and bundled plans, residential consumers can call 1.866.984.2001 or visit www.FairPoint.com.
