AMS-IX and TelecityGroup Netherlands expand partnership

10 gigabit AMS-IX ports now available at TelecityGroup’s Amstel Business Park

AMS-IX, the Amsterdam Internet Exchange, has installed its first extension point at TelecityGroup’s Amstel Park data centre. The further expansion of its infrastructure will enable AMS-IX, already one of the world’s largest internet exchanges, to meet ever growing demand for connections to its peering platform.

Continued expansion of its infrastructure is necessary to support the 60 per cent growth in internet traffic which AMS-IX has forecast will flow through its platform in 2010. The new extension location, utilising 10 gigabit AMS-IX ports with DWDM technology, will also enable TelecityGroup’s customers at its state-of-the-art Amstel Business Park data centre to have an even higher level of peering and connectivity options.

AMS-IX CEO Job Witteman comments: “To ensure we can provide the most effective platform, we need to offer customers our peering options from a diverse range of premium colocation facilities. TelecityGroup’s Amstel Business Park is one of the most advanced data centres in Europe, and through our long-term relationship with the company, we know the level of security and connectivity its facilities provide. It made perfect sense to expand our partnership with the Group at its newest Amsterdam data centre.”

Alexandra Schless, Managing Director TelecityGroup Netherlands, says: “We are committed to providing the optimum connectivity options for our customers, and a connection to the AMS-IX peering platform at our Amstel Business Park facility was a natural stage in this process. The new extension location also marks our third milestone this year with AMS-IX; in February we doubled the amount of connection points at our Amsterdam South East data centre, and in May we were awarded the ‘AMS-IX certified data centre’ accreditation. We’re delighted to have further extended our ten year relationship with AMS-IX”.
