TelecityGroup CEO receives prestigious accolade for business leadership and innovation
Michael Tobin, Chief Executive Officer of TelecityGroup, Europe's leading provider of premium network independent data centres, has been named an Ernst & Young’s ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the London and South regional finals for the second successive year.
The award is one of the world’s most prestigious business accolades for entrepreneurs, celebrating those that build and lead successful, growing and dynamic businesses; recognising them through regional, national and global awards programmes in more than 135 cities in 50 countries.
Tobin impressed the judges with his business leadership and entrepreneurial spirit, which promotes an innovative culture at TelecityGroup, and subsequently delivers ongoing shareholder value. The Group has continued to demonstrate strong growth; in 2009 year-on-year revenues increased by 27 per cent, while an expansion programme in core markets such as Paris and London has seen the Group’s total planned data centre capacity increase to 88MW of customer power, up from an operational 34MW in 2008.
Under Michael Tobin’s stewardship, TelecityGroup has also continued to lead the industry in driving energy efficiency. By achieving Corporate Status in the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres and developing its new Condorcet facility in Paris, one of the most energy efficient data centres in Europe, the Group has continued to demonstrate its commitment to environmental best practice.
Michael Tobin, CEO of TelecityGroup comments: “I’m delighted that Ernst & Young has again recognised the culture of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit that runs throughout the company, this award reflects the hard work and dedication from everyone at TelecityGroup.”
