FiberLight Increases Depth of Metro Footprint In Atlanta and in Surrounding Suburban Markets

(ATLANTA, Ga.) – FiberLight, LLC announced today it has expanded its presence in the heart of downtown Atlanta as well as suburban growth areas in Fulton, Gwinnett and Cobb counties.  FiberLight, one of the nation’s leading providers of mission-critical, high-performance fiber optic network solutions, is enhancing its presence in the Atlanta region in response to a growing demand from large enterprise companies, city governments and carriers for a secure and redundant fiber optic network offering.

Multiple large carriers have deployed the FiberLight network for redundant connectivity to 56 Marietta Street, 180 Peachtree Street, and 250 Williams Street, three local points of presence on the FiberLight network.

“In all FiberLight has increased our building presence in Atlanta more than 50% over the past 24 months and we are now able to offer companies headquartered in downtown Atlanta access to our high speed optical networks to connect them with key interconnection points such as 56 Marietta with Telx or 180 Peachtree with Equinix, formerly Switch & Data, or 300 Satellite where QTS is located.  FiberLight is able to deliver best in class SLAs including specific latency guarantees and 99.999% reliability,” said FiberLight CEO, Michael P. Miller. “Expanding our presence downtown will provide Atlanta businesses with access to our full suite of services, faster transport speeds, easily scalable network solutions and enhanced connectivity over our robust and secure 200 route mile Atlanta network.”

In addition to increased depth in the Atlanta CBD, FiberLight has transitioned one suburban area city government from DSL-based network architecture to a private fiber optics network infrastructure. Approximately 15 city buildings were added to the FiberLight network with plans for additional architecture in 2010.  In Fulton, Gwinnett and Cobb, FiberLight has added connections to data centers and is in the process of engineering the construction of a new 3.5 mile network ring to provide additional diversity and depth in Gwinnett County, which is fast becoming a growing center for high-tech companies outside of Atlanta’s downtown area.

“More and more companies are realizing that their copper-based networks simply don’t have the capacity or ease of scalability to handle today’s high-bandwidth applications and network security demands, so they are turning to FiberLight for an end-to-end fiber network solution,” Mr. Miller said.
