LITTLETON, Colo. – March 16, 2010 – The Federal Communications Commission today released its long-awaited National Broadband Plan for increasing availability and adoption of high-speed Internet services nationwide. The following are comments from Larissa Herda, tw telecom Chairman, CEO and President, concerning the plan:
“Chairman Genachowski and the FCC are to be commended for putting together a National Broadband Plan that’s all about achieving greater productivity, stimulating innovation and creating jobs. The cause and effect between expanding broadband adoption and economic growth is obvious: faster Internet connections will increase wages and decrease unemployment.
“The FCC’s plan sets a model for competition in business markets and, in practice, this political and regulatory vision should help achieve equality for all business broadband providers. This plan should help encourage innovation and promote the availability of competitive services to small and large businesses alike. The result: more competitive prices, improved service and the creation of technology-based jobs. And that is something America and its businesses need in 2010 and beyond.”
