Business Platform Center Chooses Juniper Networks to Boost Performance

End-to-End Data Center Infrastructure Installation Provides Increased Scalability, Reliability and Security with Lower Total Cost of Ownership

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, January 12, 2010 — Juniper Networks® (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings) today announced that Gateway Gulf, an integrated data center and solutions company based in Bahrain, has selected and installed network and perimeter security infrastructure from Juniper’s Data Center Infrastructure Solution. The new solutions provide carrier-class levels of network availability and reliability combined with low latency to deliver hosted applications to Gateway Gulf’s customers throughout the Middle East. With Juniper, Gateway Gulf is one of the first providers to offer managed services over an IPv6-enabled infrastructure to support its growing cloud computing offering.

“Providing Managed Services to remote customers requires a low-latency network with the highest standards of network availability, reliability and security,” said Willy George, manager — network engineering at Gateway Gulf. “Juniper’s high-performance solutions, and in particular Juniper’s Virtual Chassis technology, with low power and cooling footprint, have enabled us to scale our access network over multiple physical locations while managing them as a single switch for increased efficiency and lower operating costs.”

Gateway Gulf has deployed Juniper Networks MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers and Juniper Networks M Series Multiservice Edge Routers for core and converged edge routing. Providing high-port density routing and switching powered by the industry-leading Junos® Software operating system, the MX and M Series routers offer the flexibility, reliability and performance needed to meet the evolving multi-play requirements of the carrier Ethernet and multiservice edge markets. Juniper Networks EX Series Ethernet switches were also implemented to provide collapsed access and service aggregation. The EX4200 line of switches featuring Virtual Chassis technology combines the availability and reliability of modular systems with the economics and flexibility of stackable switches, delivering a high-performance, scalable solution for Gateway Gulf’s multi-data center environment.

The Juniper Networks ISG Series Integrated Security Gateway has also been implemented for perimeter security. Integrating best-in-class firewall, VPN, and optional Intrusion Detection and Prevention, the ISG1000 enables secure, reliable connectivity along with network and application-level protection for Gateway Gulf’s high-traffic network segments.

“Juniper’s Data Center Infrastructure Solutions help service providers build competitive, value-added market offerings that focus on operational agility, efficiency and simplicity. At the same time, these solutions deliver significantly lower total cost of ownership, helping to maximize monetization of their networks,” said Gert-Jan Schenk, senior vice president EMEA, Juniper Networks. “Juniper’s standards-based, carrier-class approach provides Gateway Gulf with the platforms they need to meet the challenges of evolving customer requirements today and into the future.”
