Huawei Enhances Cable 2.0 Portfolio to Help MSOs Realize Full-Service Operation

[Denver, USA, September 23, 2014]: Huawei today announced it will showcase its cutting-edge Cable 2.0 solution portfolio and unveil the industry’s first prototype of virtual Converged Cable Access Platform at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014. In its commitment to help global Multi-Service Operators (MSOs) foster innovation and drive business transformation, the company will also feature its innovative Distributed-Converged Cable Access Platform (D-CCAP) at the event.

Huawei’s Cable 2.0 solution is an end-to-end product portfolio of solutions to help MSOs realize sustainable business growth. A key addition to the solution includes the newly launched Software-Defined Cable Access Network (SDCAN) architecture, which will help MSOs build simple, agile, elastic, and value-added access networks allowing for rapid innovation and service deployment.

At the event, Huawei will also highlight the importance for MSOs to evolve their business towards full-service operation with a comprehensive multi-play strategy spanning video, fixed-line broadband/voice, mobile services and enterprise services to strengthen their competitiveness in the global market place, especially in the residential and business markets.

“Over the past few years, MSOs have encountered severe challenges in business growth and to stay competitive in the market. They should focus on building future-proof platforms for enhanced business agility and service quality,” said Frank Miller, CTO for Huawei’s global MSO business. “Huawei’s Cable 2.0 solution provides an integrated platform for MSO customers with comprehensive capabilities across cable access, advanced IP communications, smart video and wireless transformation. It will help MSOs navigate through the evolution towards full-operation services.”

An active innovator for the next-generation access technologies, Huawei has expanded its footprint to support MSO businesses across Northern America, Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific, and provided innovative cable solutions to 45 MSOs worldwide. The company is also actively contributing to the formulation and advancement of industry standards for cable technologies. It is the only non-traditional cable vendor working closely with the industry standards organization Cable Labs on the development of the next-generation cable technology standard Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications 3.1 (DOCSIS 3.1).

Huawei is a sponsor of the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014 held September 22-25 in Denver, Colorado, at the Colorado Convention Center, and will be available at booth #1857 to provide product demonstrations.
