Syringa Networks Acquires Idaho Wireless Carrier

Boise, Idaho—Syringa Networks announced today the company has finalized the purchase of Syringa Wireless, a wireless service provider serving Idaho.  Syringa Wireless will remain a separate operating entity and gain enhanced data capability as a result of the acquisition.

Syringa Networks is an established business-only regional fiber optic network provider. A key market segment for the company has been supporting the emerging bandwidth needs of national wireless service providers.  Their demand is being generated by the explosion of smartphones and other wireless devices.  Syringa Networks network capacity will cement Syringa Wireless’ ability to provide exceptional data mobility services.

“We’re excited about this acquisition,” said Greg Lowe, Syringa Networks President and CEO.  “The combination of companies creates Idaho’s first—and only—fully integrated network and wireless service provider.  As mobility dominates business and consumer applications, only the wireless providers who own their own fiber backbone will be able to efficiently provide their customers’ needs.  The combination of Syringa Wireless and Syringa Networks provides Idaho an unmatched offering for unlimited data access.”

With the acquisition, Scott Dike was appointed General Manager of Syringa Wireless.  “We’re going to take full advantage of the fiber optic infrastructure Syringa Networks has created and turn this into a win for our customers,” said Dike.  “While most wireless companies place limitations on data usage by their customers, we are positioned to continue to offer truly unlimited plans at competitive price points. This gives our customers an Idaho owned choice for their voice and data provider.”

Twelve rural telephone companies founded Syringa Networks, and later, five of the companies started Syringa Wireless.  With the acquisition complete, Syringa Wireless is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Syringa Networks.
