City of Roswell Secures State-of-the-Art Fiber Optic Communications Network

FiberLight provides a new dark fiber network in Roswell to enhance city communications and data storage recovery

Roswell, GAFiberLight, LLC, one of the nation’s leading providers of mission critical, high performance fiber optic networks, announced today that it is building a dark fiber network to connect all municipal buildings in the city of Roswell, GA. The diverse network is constructed in a ringed topology for added security and reliability and connects the city’s park facilities, fire stations, transportation, police station and water management system.

“Because FiberLight has such a deep and robust network footprint in the city of Roswell, we were able to quickly upgrade their infrastructure to provide unlimited high capacity bandwidth for the city’s facilities. In addition, more fiber has been allocated to future proof the network in anticipation of greater bandwidth requirements as those needs arise, “said Ben Edmond, FiberLight’s President of Sales and Marketing.

Roswell officials approved construction of the private network as a secure way to control IT infrastructure costs, improve network design as well as to attract new employers to this growing southern city.

“As the eighth largest city in the state of Georgia, we understand the value and importance of investing in state-of-the art telecommunications infrastructure to better serve our residents and to provide an added incentive for prospective companies considering relocation here,” said Roswell Mayor Jere Wood. “FiberLight has become a valuable partner in this process as they were able to construct a flexible, cost-effective solution that met our design and service delivery requirements in the timeframe we required.  We look forward to working and growing with FiberLight in the future.”
