Zayo to Build Los Angeles Fiber Network

LOUISVILLE, Colo. – July 28, 2011 – Zayo, a provider of bandwidth infrastructure services and carrier-neutral colocation, today announced it has begun construction of a fiber network in the Los Angeles Central Business District in support of data center connectivity for CoreSite Realty Corporation(NYSE:COR, news, filings). The Zayo fiber ring will consist of a high count fiber cable that will support the full suite of Zayo bandwidth and dark fiber services at CoreSite’s Southern California data centers.  The network is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.  Zayo’s Los Angeles fiber network will complement the company’s existing Western markets, including Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Boise, Spokane and Denver.

“Zayo’s support of CoreSite’s Los Angeles data centers gives us a network expansion into a major tier one market,” states Matt Erickson, President of Zayo Fiber Solutions. “We view Los Angeles as a key Zayo growth market, and will be expanding this foundational network in support of other customer opportunities.”

CoreSite’s Southern California data center ecosystem includes 600,000 square feet of data center space across two data centers, including One Wilshire, the region’s most network-dense colocation site.  Additionally, CoreSite’s Los Angeles data center development plan includes 145,000 square feet, of which 25,000 square feet will be delivered in the third quarter of 2011.
