Zayo Bandwidth Launces Industry-First Antenna Infrastructure Solutions in Support of Wireless Carrier Expansion Initiatives

ZAYO BANDWIDTH LAUNCHES INDUSTRY-FIRst ANTENNA INFRASTRUCTURE SOLUTIONS IN SUPPORT OF WIRELESS CARRIER EXPANSION INITIATIVES

LOUISVILLE, Colo. – Sept. 13, 2010 –Zayo Bandwidth, a national provider of fiber-based bandwidth infrastructure solutions for carrier, enterprise and government customers, announced today the launch of Antenna Infrastructure Solutions (AIS), a new service offering for wireless carriers that enables them to leverage Zayo’s network and operating expertise to extend their antenna solutions closer to the customer on the other side of the macro tower.

Carriers need connectivity for all types of micro cell technologies, such as distributed antenna systems, pico cells and remote radio heads. Zayo now provides a full solution with options ranging from dark fiber to Ethernet to time-division multiplexing. Zayo also has the capability to provide turnkey AIS that includes permitting, equipment sourcing and installation, and network monitoring.

“As wireless carriers continue to try to solve their capacity and coverage challenges, micro cell technology is an increasingly appealing option in areas where macro towers are not feasible,” stated Chris Murphy, Vice President, Sales and Business Development for Zayo Bandwidth. “With our new AIS offering, we can help our customers connect and deploy these micro cells as part of their overall network strategy.”

Zayo currently has over 1,000 macro cell sites on-net, with more than 500 others under construction. AIS will be available from all of these locations, as well as from other areas along Zayo’s more than 21,000-mile fiber network.
