Akamai Technologies GK (headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Managing Director: Osamu Yamano; hereafter “Akamai”) has announced that Enterprise Threat Protector (ETP), its cloud-based solution providing protection from targeted attacks, has been adopted by The Pokémon Company (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Tsunekazu Ishihara). ETP improves The Pokémon Company’s protection against targeted attacks while also reducing their workload.
Akamai’s ETP, a cloud-based security solution that blocks unauthorized DNS queries, was adopted by The Pokémon Company following their investigations into many different options for implementing zero-trust security. It is expected to provide effective protection against targeted attacks such as phishing and malware.
ETP has been praised for its:
- Large amount of threat intelligence
Reliable threat intelligence is obtained from the huge volume of data collected by over 270,000 Akamai servers distributed throughout the world. - Easy implementation
As it’s a cloud service, there’s no need to change the settings at endpoints—it can be used simply by changing the DNS server settings. - Significantly reduced workload
Eliminate the need to collate and analyze logs from different equipment with an intuitive, easy-to-understand management screen that shows the status of your internal network.
Enterprise Application Access (EAA) is a cloud-hosted, identity-aware proxy that provides ID management, authentication, authorization, and encrypted communication for centralized cloud-based management of access control to SaaS, IaaS, and on-premises software and infrastructure, creating a secure connection environment.
Takeshi Seki, Technical Director at The Pokémon Company who manages the internal information system, says “I’ve used Akamai’s CDN for a long time, including in my previous jobs. I trust Akamai solutions and had no qualms over adopting ETP. I still feel that was the right decision. Our company works with many business partners, which means we have a high volume of external access to our internal network. Due to this, we carried out investigations into eliminating the threats posed by this access, and thought it necessary to implement Zero Trust security to protect our organization. We believe that the deployment of EAA will be a huge step toward implementing (zero-trust) security in our company.”
Akamai’s Managing Director in Japan, Osamu Yamano, says “I’m delighted that The Pokémon Company, who continually provide new experiences to users all over the world through Pokémon, has chosen to adopt ETP. Today’s security solutions need to increase the speed and efficiency of a business as well as improving security. Akamai’s ETP/EAA does both, improving security while acting as a business enabler to help businesses grow.”
