Base Station Simulator IMS Evaluation Functions Strengthened for Efficient 4G/5G Terminal Development

Software for Signalling Tester MD8475B Automatically Converts Live-network Wireshark Logs to IMS Scripts
Allen, TX – June 28, 2019 – Anritsu Company introduces a Log Import option to strengthen the IMS evaluation functions of its Signalling Tester MD8475B base station simulator. Using the solution, live-network Wireshark logs are converted automatically to IMS scripts for easy configuration of an automated test environment to replay VoLTE/IMS faults when used with the IMS Basic Script option.

Mobile terminal vendors and carriers are experiencing increased workloads, evaluating IMS functions to ensure stable mobile network services. IMS function evaluations are increasing as mobile devices become more advanced and call destinations expand. Future 5G deployments will make evaluation of terminal IMS functions even more complex. The new Anritsu option helps efficient development of terminals and network services by supporting low-cost configuration of an environment for testing and evaluating IMS functions.

The new software runs in the Script Mode of the SmartStudio, which is a GUI for controlling the Signalling Tester MD8475B. Script Mode is a function offered by the IMS Basic Script option and enables users to create ladder sequence test cases, as well as execute tests with flexibility and expandability. When used with the IMS Log Import option, live-network Wireshark logs are converted automatically to IMS scripts for running test procedures. Control of the SmartStudio side is automated during the log conversion process and the generated script can be edited at the message level in the Add-in Server window. The result is efficient testing based on each user’s unique issues and protocol checking for any message.
