The GizmoWatch is the latest addition to Verizon’s GizmoKids family of children’s products, offering parents peace of mind that their little ones are safe while giving kids a smart watch that looks cool and is fun to use. Preorder your GizmoWatch from Verizon starting September 20 or pick one up in stores when it launches on October 10.
“The new GizmoWatch has all of the benefits that parents and kids are looking for in a smart watch in a stylish and cool new look kids will love,” said Brian Higgins, vice president of device and consumer product marketing for Verizon. “It has the connectivity of Verizon’s 4G LTE network and offers a ton of tools to keep kids safe and entertained.”
Created for children ages three to 11, the GizmoWatch is the successor to Verizon’s award-winning GizmoGadget. It improves on the previous generation with advanced hardware, including the high-performance Qualcomm® Snapdragon Wear™ 2100 platform, a more durable band and a more sophisticated color palette. What’s more, GizmoWatch is powered by Verizon’s 4G LTE network, so you can be sure that calls and texts will get to your children while they are on the go.
Safety first.
Kids are growing up faster than ever, particularly when it comes to technology and parents are increasingly anxious to have their kids adopt technology. Verizon’s GizmoKids product line provides technology that is stress free for parents and safe for children.
Using the GizmoHub app, you can locate your child at all times and the app notifies you if your child tries to leave a predetermined safety zone. GizmoWatch can receive phone calls from up to 10 numbers that parents choose. This ensures that even if your child accidentally shares his or her GizmoWatch number, the call can’t go through unless a parent designates that number as a safe contact. In addition, you can select up to 20 different text messages that your child can send to his or her parent-approved contact list.
The fun never ends (until you say it does).
To keep your kid entertained, GizmoWatch includes a fitness and hopscotch tracker, so kids can see how many steps they take during the day and compete against friends. The watch also inspires fun with a voice changer that lets your child transform his or her voice into a robot and an assortment of different characters. And since the GizmoWatch doesn’t rely heavily on apps and data like adult smart watches, its battery life can last up to four days (depending on usage), meaning the fun will last a very long time. Of course, parents are always in control, and can pause all watch activity in the moment (during dinner) or at specific times every day (between 8:00AM-3:00PM when the kids are in school).
The redesigned GizmoHub.
Download Verizon’s GizmoHub app (iOS and Android) onto the smartphone associated with your GizmoWatch and get control of where your child is, who he or she can call or text and a ton of other great features. The simple-to-use GizmoHub lets you communicate with your child’s GizmoWatch in real time and includes a full-size map to see where your child’s GizmoWatch is located. You can even see your child’s location change when he or is he is on the bus ride home or on the go in general. It also provides battery life for the GizmoWatch, a to-do list of things your child needs to get done (homework, chores and reminders) and more. If you have more than one child, you can use GizmoHub to manage multiple watches, as well as different contact information for each GizmoWatch.
Pricing and availability.
The GizmoWatch will be available in Verizon stores, online and via the My Verizon app on October 10, but you can preorder your GizmoWatch starting September 20 for $179.99, and add it to your existing Verizon plan for only $5 a month (plus taxes and fees).
