BROOMFIELD, Colo., November 15, 2010
Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced that it has signed an agreement with the National Museum of American Jewish History, a Philadelphia-based museum dedicated to chronicling the American Jewish experience, to provide the museum with dedicated Internet access (DIA) service in support of the museum’s new interactive digital exhibits and online content.
Level 3’s Internet access will be used to support the museum’s new facility at 101 S. Independence Mall East in Philadelphia, which requires significant bandwidth and reliable Internet connectivity for a variety of new digital exhibits and online application support. The agreement will enable the museum to provide history enthusiasts with immersive online content, using Level 3’s efficient DIA service to send high-quality articles, photos and videos from the new facility to online hosting vendors. The new service will also be used by the museum to employ an e-commerce application to facilitate museum membership and charitable contributions.
“Sharing the rich story of American Jewish history requires equally rich mediums, and Level 3’s DIA service will enable us to provide a dynamic experience,” said Michael Rosenzweig, the museum’s president and CEO. “We chose Level 3 due to its exceptional service reputation and connections to our key hosting vendors and we are delighted to have its support in providing our visitors and patrons with a vibrant look into the extraordinary history of American Jews.”
“Level 3 operates one of the largest Internet backbones in the world and is committed to offering services that meet the varied communications challenges of enterprises, enabling them to enhance their own products and services,” said Andrew Crouch, president of Sales for Level 3. “We are pleased that our DIA service will be able to support the National Museum of American Jewish History as it opens the doors of its new facility and looks to provide an interactive and engaging experience.”
