The company is committed to bringing the benefits of fiber WANs to schools throughout Indiana.
LENEXA, KS (PRWEB) NOVEMBER 28, 2017
WANRack announced today the completion of two private, fiber-optic Wide-Area Networks (WANs) for K-12 school districts in Indiana. The WANRack networks are delivering speeds up to 100 times faster than the districts’ previous shared-fiber network solutions, with none of the bottlenecks or oversubscription problems typical of shared fiber.
The two private WANs were constructed by WANRack for Whitley County Consolidated Schools in northeastern Indiana and Irvington Community School District in the Indianapolis metropolitan area. WANRack planted over 900 fiber miles to serve the districts, which can now obtain network speeds of 10 Gigabits per second per site (Gbps) and beyond.
“A WANRack private fiber network offers a superior, cost effective option for any school district, regardless of its size, geography, or demographics,” said Rob Oyler, WANRack CEO. “These two districts – one in a rural county, the other in Indiana’s largest city – are now benefiting equally from one-to-one performance, security and stability that schools require and that only a private fiber WAN can provide.”
With these deployments, Indiana is the newest entry in a growing list of states where WANRack’s flagship high-speed networking solution is enhancing the educational experience for thousands of students on a daily basis. The company is committed to bringing the benefits of fiber WANs to schools throughout Indiana.
“The new WANRack network delivers 10 Gigabits per second, which is 100 times faster than district sites were experiencing on our previous shared fiber network,” said Jake Hoag, Executive Director of Innovation for Whitley County Consolidated Schools. “The communication and attention to detail during construction was excellent.”
WANRack has a unique design model, allowing the company to provide lit or dark fiber solutions. A WANRack network provides superior one-to-one bandwidth, scalability and security as compared to traditional cable or telephone company offerings, often at a significant cost savings.
“Our WANRack network yields a 53 percent cost savings over the previous fiber service,” said Chris Ashmore, Director of IT for Irvington Community School District. “When you are upgrading schools from sluggish speeds to a blazing 1,000 – with no limit above that for the same price – you don’t expect to save money.”
The speed of a fiber-optic WAN has virtually unlimited potential. If future needs dictate, the throughput of a WANRack network can be increased from 1Gbps to 10Gbps and well beyond with a simple equipment swap, no wires or cables need modification. The “secret sauce” is WANRack’s one-to-one offering no incumbent can provide.
