Centeris Adds Chunghwa Telecom Global to the Transpacific Hub

SEATTLE,  WA – (May 4, 2016) Centeris, an international data center and infrastructure provider for mission-critical IT and networking systems, today announced an alliance with Chunghwa Telecom Global (CHT Global), the U.S. subsidiary of Taiwan’s largest telecom provider, Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd.  The partnership provides direct access for CHT Global and its Asia-based business customers to Centeris’ recently launched Transpacific Hub®, as well as an Asian gateway for Centeris and its U.S.-based customers, through CHT Global’s service offerings and facilities in Taiwan.

Launched in March, the nation’s first Transpacific Hub is located at Centeris’ massive 86-acre datacenter campus in suburban Seattle. The Hub combines fast and secure connectivity with industrial IT power for businesses operating throughout important Asian markets and the U.S. requiring high performance compute, storage, e-commerce, disaster recovery and cloud computing applications.  It also leverages dense fiber networks connecting to key Network Access Points (NAPs) along the West Coast as well as new fiber construction that connects directly to Asian markets via nearby subsea cable systems.

For CHT Global and other companies with interests on both sides of the Pacific, the Transpacific Hub’s Pacific Northwest location provides the closest and most direct access between U.S. and Asian markets.  The Centeris Seattle campus will serve as a U.S. extension of and provide disaster recovery for CHT’s new Banqiao data center in Taipei utilizing direct connections to the Trans-Pacific Express (TPE), New Cross-Pacific (NCP), and FASTER subsea cable systems.  For Centeris, today’s alliance provides its customers with immediate access to new business opportunities in Taiwan and across the Asia Pacific region.

The Centeris campus has 50 megawatts of dedicated, expandable, green power with substantial capacity ready for service as well as direct links to Seattle’s Westin Building Exchange.  It also enjoys the security of a private campus, while being located in greater Seattle, home to many of the world’s leading technology companies and consistently recognized as one of the most important technology and communications centers in the U.S.

“Working with Centeris and the Transpacific Hub enables CHT Global to offer improved U.S. connectivity with the shortest latency possible for our Asian customers, along with massive IT capacity and a new way to grow their business internationally,” said Joe Yang, CEO and President of CHT Global. “At the same time, Centeris customers can benefit from easy access to CHT’s facilities and services offerings in Asia.”

In addition to the Transpacific activity, today’s alliance makes it possible for CHT to improve connections for its Asian customers to key areas throughout North America as well as extending further across the Atlantic to the U.K. and Europe.

“Adding CHT Global to the Transpacific Hub is an important step in our ongoing goal of establishing alliances with the top broadband and telecommunication companies in each key Asian Market,” said Simon Lee, Centeris Board Director. “While we can add considerable value for Asian companies looking to deepen their activity here in North America and beyond, our customers in turn can benefit from having an established gateway in Asia provided by a proven leader in CHT.”
