BOULDER, Colo. – January 15, 2015 – Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:ZAYO), a global provider of Bandwidth Infrastructure services and a leader in long haul dark fiber, today announced plans to extend its long haul dark fiber network between Salt Lake City and Sacramento. The network expansion will add more than 800 route miles to Zayo’s owned long haul network which spans more than 16,000 route miles across the United States and Europe. The project is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2015.
The network expansion will complement Zayo’s existing long haul network and will enable connectivity between major West Coast data center markets such as Los Angeles, Seattle and the Bay Area and major data center markets across the rest of the United States. Zayo will offer its full range of Dark Fiber, Wavelengths, Ethernet and IP services across this route.
“This new, unique route is diverse from many other existing long haul networks and is driven by the ever-growing need to transport many terabytes of data across the US,” said Matt Erickson, president of physical infrastructure at Zayo Group.
Zayo acquired FiberLink in 2013, adding 1,200 route miles to its network from downtown Chicago through Des Moines and Omaha to downtown Denver. In December 2014, Zayo announced the construction of a new 1,000 route mile network from Omaha to Dallas, passing through Tulsa and Kansas City.
