Hurricane Electric Expands in Northwest Europe with a New Point of Presence at Telecity Dublin Kilcarbery

Businesses in Ireland can now leverage global network to expand, while accessing next-generation IP services

DUBLIN–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, today announced that it has added a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Telecity Kilcarbery Park, located on Nangor Road in Dublin, Ireland. Built in 2002, the facility is one of the most advanced, secure and energy-efficient data centres in Dublin.

Located within one of Telecity’s three Dublin data centres, this new PoP will enable customers to experience improved fault tolerance, lower latency and increased network capacity through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and 100BaseT network connections. Additionally, customers will now have the opportunity to exchange IP traffic, or “peer,” with Hurricane Electric’s global network.

Hurricane Electric employs a resilient fiber-optic topology and has no less than four redundant paths crossing North America, two separate paths between the U.S. and Europe, and rings in Europe and Asia. Having first deployed IPv6 in 2001, Hurricane Electric offers IPv6 as a core service; every customer is provided IPv6 connectivity as well as classic IPv4 connectivity.

“Hurricane Electric is excited to announce its first network expansion in Dublin,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “With access to this new PoP, businesses and other organizations will be able to take advantage of Hurricane Electric’s rich global network, while accessing next generation IP services, such as IPv6.”
