Huawei Launches OSS Solution

From Supporting to Enabling

[Nice, France, June 5, 2014]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced that its Operations Support System (OSS) solution is commercially available to all service providers. As the OSS was previously only available as part of Huawei’s Managed Services, the extended availability of the solution further strengthens Huawei’s service portfolio and the company’s position as a global operations transformation partner.

Since 2005, Huawei has aggressively expanded its services business to Managed Services. Through Managed Services engagement in the past, Huawei delivered its own OSS to operators to support key business objectives such as reducing the need for site visits, increasing first call resolution rate, increasing Service Level Agreement (SLA) adherence and mean time to resolution. Leveraging the key learnings gained from the successful delivery over 100 Managed Services projects to operators across 59 countries, Huawei is making the OSS capabilities and features commercially available as part of a comprehensive OSS portfolio. Huawei has also now made OSS available on a centralized platform in the cloud, enabling easy access to information on Huawei’s long-term expertise in the industry, as well as standards and best practices for other managed services projects.

Huawei OSS conforms with Huawei MSUP 2.0 (Managed Services Unified Platform) which received the Frameworx Conformance Certification (Implementations) by the Tele Management Forum (TM Forum) in early 2013, a standard that was based on other global industry standards including Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and TL 9000.

Mr. Anil Rao, a Senior Analyst at Analysys Mason, said: “With the emergence of the digital economy, operators are taking an active role both as an enabler for third-party service innovation as well as an innovator of next-generation digital services. Huawei is evolving OSS to become a key enabler of service-centric operators and in the long-term, the key value proposition for the OSS solution is shifted to enabling operators to play a significantly larger role in the emerging digital economy by transforming from a B2C to a B2B2C player.”

“It is an important milestone for Huawei. The OSS solution strengthens Huawei’s position as a transformation partner for operators as it can now offer both network and a COTS OSS. As Huawei’s ICT Strategy for Cloud, SDN (Software-defined Networking) and NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) matures, it will look to engineer its OSS solution to work efficiently with the virtualized infrastructure,” Mr. Rao added.
