At COMPTEL Plus event, Michigan-based cloud services provider showcases network expansion and new market focus
LAS VEGAS and EAST LANSING, MICH. (MARCH 17, 2014)— Cloud, network, voice services
provider COMLINK is exhibiting at the COMPTEL Plus Spring 2014 Convention and Expo in Las
Vegas this week, highlighting its ongoing network and market expansion. Key components of
the company’s expansion strategy include:
Continued fiber network expansion. COMLINK is rapidly extending its already expansive
six-state fiber network with about 1500 additional fiber route miles, as a result of both
new construction and acquisition. Specific network extensions include:
o 600 route miles from South Bend, Ind. to Indianapolis to St. Louis
o 300 route miles from Minneapolis to Madison, Wisc.
o 150 route miles in and around Southeast Michigan, including Detroit, Ann Arbor,
Southfield, Port Huron, Royal Oak, Chelsea and Jackson
o 130 route miles from Duluth, Minn. to Minneapolis
o 130 route miles from Richmond, Ind. to Indianapolis
o 100 route miles from Madison to Oshkosh, Wisc.
o 60 route miles in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, connecting Sault Ste. Marie to St.
Ignace
In addition to the new fiber, COMLINK has also added 12 more points of presence (POPs)
to its network in Ohio and Indiana, expanding the colocation of its network with other
carriers.
Healthcare sector focus. COMLINK recently unveiled its HIPAA compliant network
constructed to connect healthcare facilities throughout the State of Michigan, and
launched its Medisphere division to support healthcare providers throughout the Midwest
with secure and reliable high-speed network services. Medisphere is powered by
COMLINK to provide the high-speed networking services and the development of a
sophisticated online resource for healthcare providers to help them analyze traffic,
network and service performance, and configuration of the equipment at their facilities.
COMLINK’s Medisphere network ecosystem now connects more than 100 healthcare
facilities, with more joining every day.
Detroit market launch. COMLINK is strongly committed to serving businesses in the
Detroit region. The company’s new office in downtown Detroit will open May 1, and
COMLINK will add up to 15 new staff in the region by the end of 2014. Communications
industry veteran Tom Abraham, who most recently headed Comcast’s enterprise services
organization in Michigan and Indiana, leads the Detroit market effort.
COMLINK also has been aggressively pursuing opportunities to bolster its network
presence throughout the Detroit region, including:
o Partnering with the city of Royal Oak to build a new, state-of-the-art fiber optic
network, providing municipal buildings, schools and businesses with access to
high-speed broadband connectivity.
o Acquiring the fiber network assets of Michigan Lightwave, which provided fiber and
telecommunications service throughout Macomb County.
COMLINK also continues to create and launch innovative products and services to keep pace
with the fast-changing needs of enterprise and small business customers, including cloud
managed desktop and video conferencing-as-a-service.
