[Shenzhen, China – September 16, 2013]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced it has been selected to deploy a 100G backbone network for Polkomtel in Poland with the SingleBackbone solution. The solution comprises core routers and OTN-based WDM products. Featuring high bandwidth and efficient multi-service transport, the solution will enable Polkomtel’s network to simultaneously carry mobile (GSM/HSPA/LTE) and fixed (enterprise private lines) network services to deliver optimum service experience.
The very fast and large rollout of LTE network could potentially cause bandwidth congestion on the current Polkomtel’s backbone network. To protect the traffic, Polkomtel plans to deploy a future-proof 100G network that can efficiently and reliably carry fixed mobile convergence (FMC) services.
Huawei’s SingleBackbone solution provides huge bandwidth and simplified network O&M through IP and OTN synergy. Specifically, traffic synergy between the IP and OTN layers significantly enhances the transmission efficiency of backbone networks. In addition, the solution supports unified transport of varied services, meeting the long-term service evolution needs of Polkomtel’s network.
“IP and OTN synergy will build future-proof backbone networks. The synergy between IP and OTN helps operators excel in the ultra broadband era with more efficient traffic distribution, more reliable network protection, and easier-to-maintain backbone networks,” said Kevin Hu, Huawei CEE & Nordic Region vice president in charge of solution and marketing.
As a leader in the global fixed broadband (FBB) market, Huawei offers first-class IP and OTN synergy solutions based on its technical expertise and solid commercial experience in both IP and the optical networking fields. IP and OTN synergy is part of Huawei’s broader Business Opportunity Oriented Solution and Tactics (BOOST) initiative, which is aimed at helping operators achieve commercial success and sustainable development in the ultra wideband era.
