Exponential-e to use cloud-ready network to meet enterprise bandwidth needs
Technology enabler Exponential-e today announced the launch of 10 Gigabit per second(Gig) cloud connectivity into 12 UK data centres to meet increasing customer demand.
The announcement will see Exponential-e provide 10Gig connectivity over its 100Gig core network which spans the UK. The firm will leveraging its carrier-class network capacity and reach to connect enterprises to their cloud environments in some of the UK’s largest cloud data centres.
The move is designed to deliver enterprise-class connectivity to match the enterprise-class cloud environments now available to businesses across the UK. The mammoth bandwidth will increase throughput, reduce latency and provide better guarantees for packet security – essential for high-availability and performance of cloud services.
Lee Wade, CEO, Exponential-e commented: “We’ve seen an increasing demand for capacity over the past 18 months from customers taking cloud services from us, our partners’ customers and customers of other Cloud Service Providers as they look to ensure that there is no gap between the quality of their cloud services and the connectivity used to access the cloud. We have always believed that ‘your cloud is only as good as your network’. This launch is designed to ensure that the network delivers on the cloud promise with 132 10Gig route options across 12 data centres.”
The launch will initially provide 10Gig connectivity into 12 UK data centres including Equinix LD1-5, Interxion, Telehouse and Virtus in Enfield.
With estimates citing that cloud uptake will require a 16 fold increase in network capacity and more than 20 times the computing capacity by 2015* the launch is timed to meet the needs of the most bandwidth-hungry enterprises.
