HOUSTON – Jan. 10, 2013 – Alpheus Communications, a leading provider of Texas metro-regional fiber and networking solutions, today announced that it has built out its fiber network to several large downtown Houston buildings. With this increased footprint, more enterprises can take advantage of the highest-quality network and Ethernet services, from 1.5 Mbps up to GigE speeds, without long lead times or high cost of construction.
The downtown Houston buildings added to the Alpheus network include: 1001 Fannin St., Two Allen Center at 1200 Smith St., and 601 Travis St.
In 2012, Alpheus announced plans to sell its high-bandwidth services directly to Texas business, and to support those efforts, the company invested more than $10 million in 2012 alone to expand its workforce and fiber network.
“Serving the networking and telecommunication needs of enterprise customers is a major focus of Alpheus. By connecting these downtown Houston buildings to our fiber network, we can provide building tenants with data, Internet and managed network services with unmatched scalability at highly competitive prices,” said Alpheus CEO Scott Widham. “The addition of these buildings is a testament to the progress we’ve made executing upon our growth strategy, and we look forward to continuing to expand our footprint in Houston and other metro areas in Texas through additional investments in 2013.”
The Alpheus fiber network is connected to more than 300 central offices and POPs (points-of-presence), which creates a dense metro fiber infrastructure throughout the company’s strategic markets of Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin.
