Si.mobil customers can enjoy faster downloads, quicker response times
Si.mobil has become the first operator to launch commercial LTE* services in Slovenia. Nokia Siemens Networks is providing the radio access network and related services for the operator’s 4G network. Si.mobil’s subscribers in Ljubljana, Brnik and Bled now have access to ultra high-speed 4G mobile broadband with data speeds up to 100 Mbps.
“Our customers can now enjoy a significantly superior user experience with fast download and response times,” said Johannes Nabecker, director of Access and Transport Network at Si.mobil. “Nokia Siemens Networks has realized our vision of deploying a future-ready network across Ljubljana, Brnik and Bled. Users in these cities can now enjoy data speeds typically ranging from 30 to 80 Mbps.”
Nokia Siemens Networks provides its Single Radio Access Network (RAN)** based on its award-winning, energy-efficient Flexi Multiradio Base Station. This enables Si.mobil to efficiently provide 4G services to its customers.
Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks also supplies its NetAct network management system. This ensures consolidated monitoring and optimization for Si.mobil’s 2G, 3G and 4G networks. The company also provides support services including commissioning and optimization of the base stations.
“It took us just one month to implement this deal that paves the way for the introduction of 4G services in Slovenia”, said Daria Horvat, account manager at Nokia Siemens Networks. “We are proud to partner Si.mobil in its endeavor to provide the best user experience to customers.”
With 66 commercial references in place for the delivery of LTE, Nokia Siemens Networks is number one in the world in mobile broadband. About Si.mobil
As the first private mobile operator in Slovenia, Si.mobil presented its services to users in March 1999. As competition started to develop in the Slovene telecommunications market, the price of mobile phones and services began to fall, quality improved, and mobile telephony became accessible to all users.
Customers recognize Si.mobil as an operator that offers quality services worth their price. It was the first in Slovenia to present and offer its users GPRS, WAP and MMS services. It was also the first Slovenian operator and among the first operators in Europe to enable fast data transfer using EDGE technology, later offering broadband mobile internet through its own UMTS/HSDPA network. In addition to basic services, Si.mobil offers advanced services, products and solutions such as the mobile office with the BlackBerry(R) and mobile internet services.
Si.mobil is part of the international telecommunications group, Telekom Austria Group, and has a strategic partnership with the world’s leading mobile operator, Vodafone.
At the end of 2011, Si.mobil had 29.7% market share and 369 employees providing services for 639,698 users.
