The Nemours Foundation Selects Level 3 for Network Services

Children’s Health System Relies on Level 3 to Support Secure Transmission of Critical Patient Data

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Nov. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (LVLT) today announced that the Nemours Foundation, a children’s health organization based in Jacksonville, Fla., has selected Level 3 to support its rising bandwidth needs and to help enable and support the operation of its advanced medical record system. Nemours owns and operates the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., and has recently opened the Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Fla. It also operates a network of pediatric specialty clinics in Delaware, Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Dedicated to advancing higher standards in children’s health, Nemours has created an electronic medical record system that requires sophisticated network services that provide the security to protect the sensitive patient information for each child. Level 3’s network services will enable Nemours to deploy multiple, critical IP applications, as well as securely and efficiently manage patient data.

“Our top priority is delivering the highest quality care possible to our children, and we wanted a network provider who understands that need,” said Bernie Rice, Chief Information Technology Officer at Nemours. “We demand not only exceptionally secure and reliable network services, but also a trusted partnership with the team on the ground that manages our services and supports us. Level 3 was the clear choice for us and the important work we are doing.”

“More than ever, healthcare organizations need a trusted network provider to enable seamless access to critical patient information and medical data,” said Andrew Crouch, Level 3 regional president of North America. “We are pleased that the Nemours Foundation has chosen us to support the growth, efficiency and security they need to provide the best quality care they can to the children they serve.”
