Maurice Mortell, Managing Director of TelecityGroup Ireland, was last night presented with the ‘Industry Person of the Year’ award at the ICT Excellence Awards 2012. Judged by a panel of business and technology leaders, the award recognises an individual who has excelled in his or her contribution to the ICT sector in Ireland.
Accepting the award, Maurice Mortell said, “I would like to acknowledge all the people in the industry who have played a part in developing the ICT sector in Ireland. I feel privileged to have worked with many of these people and am proud to have contributed to a sector which is now a thriving environment in which both domestic and global companies like TelecityGroup can excel.”
Previous winners include Denis O’Brien, Jim O’ Hara of Intel; Eoin O’ Driscoll, Chairman of Forfas; Dr Jim Mountjoy, Deputy Chairman at Science Foundation Ireland and John Purdy, CEO of Ergo.
Billy Huggard, organiser of the Annual ICT Excellence Awards said, “With Maurice Mortell at the helm of TelecityGroup, the company is investing heavily in Ireland but his work outside his role as CEO and his assistance to industry groups does not go unnoticed.”
“We are so fortunate in our industry to have someone of the calibre of Maurice Mortell – he continues to lead from the front and acts as an inspiration to others who would like to emulate his success”, he continued.
