First US provider to have Point of Presence in new state-of-the-art Manchester facility
TelecityGroup has today announced that Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) will have a presence in Joule House its new state-of-the-art Manchester data centre from launch. The expansion is expected to help meet the added connectivity demands in Europe driven by the continued uptake of cloud services by enterprise clients, and enable TelecityGroup’s customers to enjoy the widest connectivity and peering options from the facility.
Sprint identified Manchester as a key location to expand its network presence due to the city’s rapid growth as one of the UK’s primary business and technology hubs. With the growth of enterprise cloud computing demand in Europe, the expansion will help Sprint customers securely access cloud and other premium network services across the region, as well as enable Sprint to offer additional value added services on its network including SIP Trunking and IP Telephony. Sprint’s presence in Manchester will enhance diversity to the Sprint network in Europe and provide low latency connectivity to the United States, which is crucial for its customers’ mission critical applications.
Mark Harris, Regional Director – Sales and Marketing for EMEA, Sprint, said, “Sprint is focused on expanding facilities in Europe to help meet our customers’ global communications needs and growing network demands. Throughout our relationship with TelecityGroup, we have always been impressed with the premium environment its facilities provide and the new Manchester data centre is no exception.“
Located opposite MediaCity, Joule House will meet the latent demand for premium, centrally located and highly connected data centre space in Manchester, offering companies the optimum environment to locate their telecoms, internet and IT infrastructure. The presence of carriers such as Sprint from launch will ensure its customers in the facility have direct access to a wide choice of telecoms and content distribution networks, key internet exchange points and cloud hubs.
Adriaan Oosthoek, Managing Director UK, TelecityGroup comments: “It is clear that Manchester is becoming an increasingly important digital and technology hub, and the demand for high quality infrastructure and network services is constantly growing in the region. By securing the presence of premium carriers such as Sprint in our new state-of-the-art Joule House facility from launch, we are ensuring our customers have access to the connectivity they require to support their business demands.”
