Los Angeles, Calif. – U.S. TelePacific Corp., a communications and network services company doing business as TelePacific Communications (TelePacific), has hired Tony Thakur as vice president of engineering.
Thakur has over 20 years of experience in all aspects of telecommunications engineering including network design, architecture, network planning, deployment, capacity management and sales engineering. He most recently was the Executive Vice President of Engineering and Operations for Carrier Ethernet Exchange (CENX). Prior to that, he was Vice President of Network Technologies and Systems for Time Warner Telecom, where he provided strategic direction, technology selection and product development support for next-generation IP solutions including managed services, IP virtual private network (VPN), virtual private LAN (VPLS) wide-area Ethernet and SIP services.
“Tony is a proven leader with an impressive record of implementing and managing advanced telecommunications networks and technologies,” says Dick Jalkut, president and chief executive officer of TelePacific. “He has built networks from the ground up and transformed legacy TDM {time division multiplexing} networks to next-generation IP, Ethernet and optical platforms. He has deep experience with just about every facet of network engineering and operations, making him a valuable addition to our management team as we continue to grow and expand into new markets.”
During his tenure with Time Warner Telecom, Thakur created the first IP network using next-generation core and edge router architecture and managed its network-wide implementation. He also developed and supervised expansion programs into regional and long-haul networks and we look forward to leveraging that experience at TelePacific.
“I can’t think of a more exciting place to be right now,” says Thakur. “TelePacific is growing rapidly, expanding its network footprint and reach, and its focus on customer service is unrivaled in our business. Dick and his entire team have done a terrific job of building a first-rate network and delivering telecommunications services and solutions that empower business customers, and I’m looking forward to playing a part in their success going forward.”
