STOCKHOLM – 3 May 2012 – Interxion HOLDING NV (NYSE:INXN, news), a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced that Qbrick, a European provider of streaming media, has chosen Interxion to house a large part of their overall server capacity in the Nordic region. Qbrick cited a greater end-user need for capacity combined with demand for increased quality behind its decision for consolidation.
“As the capacity requirements look today, running everything in-house was never an option for us. We need to be able to quickly increase the capacity when needed, which is why we decided to use Interxion as our supplier”, said Mats Fredriksson, CTO Qbrick.
Qbrick is one of the largest providers of services for streaming media in Europe. Their customers include broadcasters, production companies and businesses that choose to distribute company information and commercials both internally and externally via digital channels. The services include both publishing and distribution systems for video content. Qbrick has over 600 customers such as Swedish National Television (SvT), Norwegian National Television (NRK), and news outlets such as Aftonbladet and Dagens Industri, together with corporate customers such as Volvo and Astra Zeneca.
With the breakthrough of smart phones and tablets, the demand for streaming services has increased tremendously in recent years. Another important factor is the ever-increasing bandwidth, which leads to constant increasing demands for better image and sound quality by media consumers.
“End users are increasing their expectations on quality, which means that we must have systems that can deliver against these expectations. Moreover, it is important that we are physically close to the end consumer, in order to deliver top quality,” added Mats Fredriksson. “Interxion’s solution meets these requirements for our customers in the Nordic countries”.
