CENX brings dramatic cost savings vs. legacy tandem charges & direct connects
Los Angeles, California, Monday March 1st, 2010. CENX, operator of the world’s first Carrier Ethernet exchanges, today announced a new Carrier Ethernet neutral Voice Exchange service. Optimized for IP traffic, CENX’s Voice Exchange service replaces both TDM direct connections and legacy voice tandems, whose margin-eroding per minute billing is out of step with today’s rapid migration to flat rate calling plans.
With CENX, competitive carriers benefit from the one-to-many efficiency of a tandem design combined with the effectiveness of a direct connect (capacity-based charges, not minutes-used based charges), delivered on a Carrier Ethernet Exchange platform that scales to match traffic volumes. With a one or ten gigabit Ethernet connection and capacity-based billing, a competitive carrier can now cost-efficiently reach all other competitive carriers and replace its lower speed, costly T1, DS3 and SONET/SDH connections.
“Every wireline and wireless service provider with voice traffic is looking for ways to improve the operational costs of Voice over IP traffic exchange,” stated Michael Howard, Co-Founder & Principal Analyst at Infonetics Research. “CENX’s Carrier Ethernet exchange approach does just that, while also simplifying and easing the deployment of Carrier Ethernet in other parts of VoIP infrastructure and implementation of 3G/4G and LTE wireless networks.”
“This is the first deployment of Carrier Ethernet for a voice exchange application. The virtual connection and granular bandwidth characteristics of our Carrier Ethernet Neutral Exchanges make it the perfect alternative to legacy voice tandems and the multitude of inefficient, low-speed direct connections between carriers, including wireless carriers and MSOs ,” said Nan Chen, CENX co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Our new Voice Exchange service integrates seamlessly with other CENX Carrier Ethernet Exchange services. By leveraging several unique technical innovations and our years of Ethernet expertise, CENX enables profitable scalability as flat-rate calling plans increase in popularity and traffic volumes grow.”
