Renowned business association recognizes leadership and industry-breakthrough innovation in virtual wireless LAN
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Oct 18, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) —
ADTRAN(R), Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that Mads Lillelund, former CEO of Bluesocket, was named the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council’s (MassTLC) Private Company CEO of the Year. Lillelund was recognized for his outstanding ability to inspire and direct the innovative development and implementation of Bluesocket’s industry-leading virtual wireless solutions, as well as his recent humanitarian efforts in Haiti’s earthquake disaster. Bluesocket was acquired by ADTRAN, Inc. in August 2011, and Lillelund now serves as general manager of ADTRAN’s Bluesocket Business Group.
This year’s award program showcased the depth and breadth of Massachusetts’ vibrant technology ecosystem with winners from a wide range of company sizes and technologies, and honorees were recognized at the Council’s 14th Annual Awards Gala on October 5, 2011 at Boston’s Seaport Hotel.
“The MassTLC Awards bring together some of the community’s most influential leaders to recognize the industry’s visionaries, and I am honored to be named to that group as we deliver a vision of virtual mobility,” said Mads Lillelund, general manager, Bluesocket Business Group, ADTRAN Enterprise Networks Division. “With ADTRAN’s recent acquisition of Bluesocket, we are proud to now have this great company be a part of the long-standing, vibrant Massachusetts tech community.”
ADTRAN delivers the industry’s most highly integrated, carrier-class end-to-end voice, data, video and mobility solutions with virtual control. The solutions enable unprecedented scalability, seamless operations and productivity across the network with building-to-building, wireless and wired connectivity, as well as the unique ability to offer new cloud-based wireless services with centralized management and control.
In addition to the technological innovation of the ADTRAN virtual wireless solution, Lillelund was also recognized for his philanthropic efforts. Lillelund’s leadership in Haiti disaster relief activities resulted in Bluesocket donating and installing a state of the art WLAN network at the Pierre Payen hospital to support and significantly improve the area’s communications network.
“We’re honored to be able to give this award to Mads Lillelund,” said Tom Hopcroft, President and CEO of MassTLC. “The company’s innovative technology and market leadership is testimony to the outstanding achievements by the individuals and organizations in Massachusetts that are defining the future of the technology sector.”
A committee of Council Trustees, local thought leaders and media were involved with the selection process for the nominees and, in most cases, chose the winners in each category.
