Powered by GENBAND’s A2 Communications Application Server, SwitchPoint’s queuing application delivers flexibility and insight into reservations and wait times.
Frisco, Texas, September 13, 2011 – GENBAND, a leading developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, today released details on the breakthrough restaurant and hospitality queuing application created by SwitchPoint, which took first place in GENBAND’s GENFuzion™ Developer Challenge. The contest, which recognized the top app developers from across several strategic categories, including Lifestyle, Productivity, Mobility and Unified Communications, was designed to expand third party applications powered by the GENBAND A2™ Communications Application Server. Now GENBAND’s A2 carrier customers will have access to SwitchPoint’s innovative Queuing Alert application.
SwitchPoint’s Queuing Alert app dramatically improves management of wait lists for restaurants, spas, hair and nail salons, and other service-oriented businesses, while providing customers key details on wait times and service availability directly via their mobile phone. Replacing cumbersome and range-restricting buzzers, SwitchPoint’s app enables customers to receive calls, texts and updates directly on their mobile phones, alerting them when service is ready so they can make the most of their wait time.
“We are thrilled to have been recognized by GENBAND for innovation in the mobile enterprise application market,” said Manish Jha, Vice President of Business Development, SwitchPoint. “This unique developer challenge was a phenomenal opportunity for our business, providing us the platform, tools and open architecture necessary to develop an IP-rich communications solution for everyday businesses and their customers. We especially appreciate the chance to have our app available to GENBAND’s global service provider customer base as we bring our practical solution to market.”
GENBAND will showcase the SwitchPoint solution, along with the latest advances in IP applications available, via its GENApps website to help service providers increase revenues and subscriber loyalty by targeting small, service-oriented businesses and differentiating their service offerings from competitors.
“As demand for enterprise mobile solutions grow, carriers that deploy our market-leading A2 Communications Application Server along with SwitchPoint’s productivity application will be deepening their subscriber base and providing a much needed business application to the service-oriented marketplace,” said Micaela Giuhat, Vice President, Product Marketing at GENBAND. “We are very pleased to deliver more feature-rich content through our GENFuzion Developer Community Platform and Challenge and to add Switchpoint’s queuing application to our GENApps showcase, where developers’ communications applications continue to gain exposure to GENBAND’s global customer base.”
SwitchPoint combines the latest front-end programming technologies such as HTML5, Backbone.js and Jquery Mobile and server-side technologies such as Rails, Node.js and Java with applications servers like the GENBAND A2 to deliver rich, unified communications for businesses and consumers.
The Developer Challenge successfully launched the GENFuzion Developer Community earlier this year.
The SwitchPoint Queuing Alert application will be demonstrated at the GENBAND booth number 607 at the ITEXPO in Austin, Texas September 13-15.
