GNM, an international backbone provider and Internet Exchange operator, has announced the launch of its first North American Points of Presence (PoPs), now live in Equinix MI1(Miami) and Equinix DC1–DC15, DC21 (Ashburn).
The new locations mark GNM’s first infrastructure expansion into the United States and establish a dedicated transatlantic platform directly connecting North America with the company’s European backbone network.
The Miami and Ashburn PoPs are deployed as a protected East Coast ring and fully integrated with GNM’s existing infrastructure. This architecture enables customers on both sides of the Atlantic to exchange traffic across a single operational environment, improving routing efficiency and simplifying international network expansion.
Located at Equinix MI1, the Miami PoP provides access to one of the world’s most important connectivity hubs for subsea cable systems linking North America, Latin America and Europe.
The Ashburn PoP, deployed within Equinix’s Northern Virginia campus, places GNM in the largest data centre market in the world and one of the most significant interconnection hubs for carriers, cloud platforms, content providers and enterprises.
Both locations connect directly to GNM-IX, GNM’s Internet Exchange platform, which today supports more than 700 connected networks and over 10.95 Tbps of peak traffic.
The new North American platform enables network operators, carriers, cloud providers and content networks to exchange traffic more efficiently between continents and access GNM’s portfolio of interconnection and transport services from a single provider.
For North American networks, the expansion creates direct access to European traffic exchange opportunities without the need to deploy infrastructure in Europe.
For European operators, it provides direct connectivity into two of the most strategically important interconnection markets in the United States.
Alex Surkov, Head of Business Development at GNM, commented:
“Launching in Miami and Ashburn is a defining milestone for GNM. We have created our first North American platform and directly connected it to our European backbone. This gives customers on both sides of the Atlantic something genuinely valuable – simpler interconnection, direct access to new traffic flows, and the ability to grow internationally through one integrated network ecosystem.”
With more than 90 Points of Presence, over 700 connected networks, and infrastructure spanning Europe, Asia and now North America, GNM continues to scale a global platform built to support the performance and capacity requirements of modern internet traffic.
