TPOA1 facility will have 20 MW of total power, will be built in the Sarandi neighborhood, and is expected to begin operations of its first phase in the fourth quarter of 2026
São Paulo, January 20, 2026 – Tecto Data Centers announces an investment of approximately R$200 million to develop a new data center in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, named TPOA1. The company already owns a 33,000-square-meter plot of land located in the Sarandi neighborhood, where the project will be developed. The facility will have a total power capacity of 20 MW and will be connected to the Malbec submarine cable, which links Brazil and Argentina, connecting Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, and soon Porto Alegre, currently under construction.
In its first phase, scheduled to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2026, 3 MW of capacity will be delivered, with gradual expansion until reaching the planned total capacity. The project will be carried out through the retrofit of an existing warehouse on the site, which will be adapted to meet the technical and operational standards required for high-performance data centers.

The new TPOA1 data center will feature a closed-loop air-cooling system with zero water consumption and will operate using 100% renewable energy, aligning operational performance with environmental sustainability. “The use of solar energy and efficient cooling solutions is part of our commitment to growing responsibly and innovatively, meeting the demands of global clients without compromising sustainability,” Costa adds.
The data center will serve big tech companies, digital content firms, cloud providers, and enterprise market clients, expanding the supply of digital infrastructure in southern Brazil. With this new investment, Tecto contributes to strengthening Porto Alegre’s digital ecosystem and consolidates the city as a relevant hub for connectivity and data infrastructure in the country.

TPOA1 connected to the Malbec cable
The Malbec cable spans 2,500 km and connects the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, and soon Porto Alegre, with the inauguration of a 280 km branch unit scheduled for 2027. Santiago, Chile, is also connected to the Malbec network through terrestrial connectivity with Buenos Aires. In addition, the network interconnects Rio de Janeiro with Fortaleza, Venezuela, Colombia, the United States, and Bermuda through V.tal’s 26,000 km submarine cable infrastructure. All of this infrastructure will be connected to the new TPOA1 data center and to Tecto’s other data centers in Fortaleza, Ceará, and Barranquilla, Colombia.
