Quad State Internet Urges State Leaders to Halt Disconnection of Accelecom from KentuckyWired Network

Paducah, KY – April 24, 2025 – Quad State Internet LLC, a leading locally owned and operated internet service provider, is calling on the Kentucky Communications Network Authority (KCNA), Governor Andy Beshear, and state legislators to immediately halt the planned disconnection of Accelecom from the KentuckyWired network. The move, if allowed to proceed, threatens to leave many communities, businesses, healthcare providers, and essential services without critical internet connectivity or with substantially degraded service.

“Accelecom plays an indispensable role in delivering broadband throughout Kentucky, particularly in rural and underserved areas,” said Preston Louis Ursini, Chief Executive Officer of Quad State Internet. “Our partnership with Accelecom, including direct transport into the Paducah Internet Exchange and the Hurricane Electric Point of Presence we host, has strengthened regional resiliency and created a foundation for economic and technological growth. Disconnecting them from KentuckyWired would not only isolate communities but also undermine Kentucky’s ambitions to become a digital and data center leader.”

Quad State Internet emphasizes that many local ISPs and critical institutions rely on Accelecom as their primary or sole transport link to the global internet. Without a responsible transition plan, KCNA’s actions risk disrupting service to healthcare facilities, public safety networks, businesses, schools, and data centers across the Commonwealth.

“We are pleading with Governor Beshear, Senator Danny Carroll, Representative Steven Rudy, and all Kentucky leaders to step in, demand transparency from KCNA, and ensure that no disconnection occurs without protecting critical services,” Ursini continued. “Fair competition, strong partnerships, and resilient infrastructure are what will move Kentucky forward. Severing Accelecom without a clear, coordinated plan would set us back and damage the trust that so many communities and businesses have placed in our state’s digital future.”

Quad State Internet stands ready to work with Accelecom, KCNA, and state leaders to find a collaborative solution that ensures uninterrupted broadband connectivity for all Kentuckians.
