Navitas’ global expansion empowered by Macquarie Telecom

Australian-founded global education provider ensures continued success in evolving sector with future-proofed technologies from Macquarie Telecom

7 NOVEMBER 2024

Macquarie Telecom, part of Macquarie Technology Group (ASX: MAQ), today announced it has signed a new agreement with global education provider, Navitas, to help achieve significant cost savings, streamlined infrastructure management, and support necessary for Navitas’ ongoing success in the evolving education sector.

As an Australian-founded global education provider, Navitas operates more than 98 colleges and campuses worldwide, with over 5,000 employee endpoints and a student base of over 56,000 around the world.

To prepare for its next stage of expansion, Navitas sought to consolidate its contracts and improve network resilience. It aimed to enhance its infrastructure to support its strategic growth plans while maintaining cost efficiency and flexibility. For the past decade, the company had partnered with Macquarie Telecom across various contracts from mobile and landline telephony to multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), SDWAN, and data centre technology.

To ensure the most suitable partner was selected, Navitas engaged in a comprehensive tender process, evaluating multiple providers including Telstra, Optus, and TPG. Macquarie Telecom remained the preferred choice due to its cost savings, ability to simplify billing and reporting, and customer service; resulting in significant time savings for Navitas.

Navitas’ Global Head of Infrastructure, Services, and Delivery, Michael Schofield, said the decision to remain with Macquarie Telecom was proven right during the relocation of our Headquarters to a newly constructed building in the Perth CBD.

“Being a new building there were some challenges with the building address not yet appearing in systems used by telecoms providers, add to that a short delivery timeframe, and end of year embargo periods. Macquarie Telecom really stepped up to ensure services were installed ahead of time and that the business was able to open our new Headquarters on time.

“Macquarie Telecom ensured network links were provisioned and available, enabling a smooth migration process. This resulted in a successful outcome without any disruption to our business operations,” said Schofield.

The seamless migration during Navitas’ office relocation showcased Macquarie’s commitment to customer service. “Macquarie’s customer service and engagement have always been exceptional. We appreciate their professionalism, communication, and ability to just get things done. They provide us with flexible solutions and are always willing to help, which is crucial for our business,” said Schofield.

“Navitas’ remarkable success in the education sector, on an international scale, reflects a deep-seated passion for innovation and excellence,” said Aaron Tighe, Western Australia State Manager, Macquarie Telecom. “Macquarie Telecom shares a similar drive to uplift organisations that are underserved and overcharged, guided by a commitment to making a meaningful impact in every partnership we forge.”

The partnership between Navitas and Macquarie Telecom has resulted in significant cost savings and streamlined infrastructure management for Navitas. By consolidating contracts and leveraging Macquarie Telecom’s network resilience solutions, Navitas has reduced the cost and inefficiency of managing multiple vendors and improved network performance, crucial for Navitas’ students accessing vital online education resources.

Following the latest success, Navitas is looking to potentially leverage Macquarie Telecom’s broader vertical capabilities in cybersecurity, cloud, and AI. “As we continue to expand globally, we rely on partners like Macquarie Telecom for network infrastructure, cyber, cloud, and automation services. Their expertise in these areas aligns with our strategic growth plan,” said Schofield.
