New Mexico Wildfires

June 22, 2024, 3:54 p.m. MST

Our thoughts are with the communities affected by the devastating wildfires in New Mexico. We’re currently experiencing wireless network impacts in Lincoln and Otero counties, and working as quickly and safely as possible to restore service. We continue to work with the local fiber provider to restore connectivity in the area as well as find solutions for cell sites that may be inaccessible or affected by loss of power.

Our teams and FirstNet liaisons are in contact with federal, state, and local officials to support public safety and the communities impacted by the fires. The AT&T Network Disaster Recovery (NDR) team and FirstNet Response Operations Group (ROG) continue to support public safety and FirstNet subscribers through their deployment efforts in the area.

We’ve supported local relief efforts at the main evacuee shelter by donating blankets and pillows, as well as activating our connectivity hub with computers, iPads and hotspots. We also worked with the Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC) to provide connectivity to all evacuation sites and administrative centers for emergency responders.

As a reminder to our wireless customers in affected areas, we’re waiving talk, text and data overage charges. This includes AT&T Postpaid & Prepaid customers with billing addresses in four zip codes from June 19, 2024, through June 25, 2024.

We continue to monitor fire conditions in the area and are prepared to respond to any potential network impacts. As always, our focus remains on keeping our customers, their families and first responders connected.
