TelePacific Communications Completes Acquisition of Orange County Internet Xchange

TelePacific Communications, the largest California-based CLEC providing integrated voice and data telecommunications services to the small and medium-sized business (“SMB”) customer segment in California and Nevada, today announced it has completed the acquisition of Orange County Internet Xchange (OCiX, Inc.), a dedicated provider of carrier class colocation services. OCiX operates a 10,000 square-foot SAS 70 Type II certified facility located in Santa Ana, California. TelePacific plans to expand the facility to 18,000 square feet in the near future.

TelePacific’s latest purchase supports the Company’s strategic initiative to continue delivering carrier grade infrastructure to the SMB market, and further enhances their suite of colocation and business continuity services. This will be TelePacific’s second acquisition of a SAS 70 certified data center. In November 2010, TelePacific acquired a data center in Sacramento, California through a transaction with O1 Communications.

The legacy OCiX facility is strategically located very close to TelePacific’s Irvine colocation facility and will immediately meet needed capacity increases for that market. The combination of two SAS 70 data centers, one in both Northern and Southern California, will provide excellent geographic diversity for TelePacific’s substantial SMB customer base. TelePacific’s other carrier class colocation facilities are located in San Jose, San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

“Network reliability and security remain paramount concerns to our customers,” said Dick Jalkut, President and CEO of TelePacific. “The legacy OCiX data center allows us to deliver the redundant facilities that are in high demand by banks, hospitals and other businesses in highly regulated industries.”

The planned 8,000 square foot facility expansion will provide current customers with additional private meeting space and storage for their gear. Further, legacy OCiX customers will have the opportunity to consolidate their voice and data services with one provider and access TelePacific’s extensive portfolio of enhanced telecommunications services including high bandwidth Ethernet access, wireless connectivity, mobile solutions and equipment leasing. TelePacific also offers tools to streamline account management such as customer portals for online bill payments, network monitoring, and submitting and tracking trouble tickets.

TelePacific extended employment offers to OCiX employees at the time of the acquisition close and is fortunate to have them continue to support legacy customers for a seamless transition. TelePacific is a privately-held company and the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
