– network and data center operator grows with Internet…
HOUSTON: May 10, 2011: Today Alpheus Communications announced an important network upgrade. As the legacy Internet addressing protocol (IPv4) reaches its limit, Alpheus has successfully implemented IPv6 across its fiber network. Internet Protocol Version 6 allows for vastly more addresses than was previously possible. Like IPv4, IPv6 is an Internet Layer protocol for packet-switched internetworking and provides end-to-end data transmission across multiple IP networks.
Francisco Maella, Chief Operating Officer of Alpheus, said “This is a major enhancement that we have been planning for over a year. Our customers can now grow as fast as the internet does.” Alpheus accomplished a seamless upgrade using technology from Alcatel-Lucent. “We are ready to support cloud technologies, wireless data and the potential of the public network generally to improve people’s lives,” continued Maella. Alpheus also supports circuit-switched connectivity and can easily configure hybrid architectures for companies transitioning from incumbent standards to Internet Protocol and metro Ethernet.
