Hurricane Nolo

Sept. 27, 2026, 10:12 a.m. HST

Our hearts are with everyone affected by Nolo, as well as the other major storms that have recently impacted Hawaii. Overall, our wireless network remained strong throughout the storm and is now operating normally across the state.

AT&T Network Disaster Recovery (NDR) team members responded quickly to affected areas of Hilo and worked to restore connectivity. We deployed an LECP (Low-earth orbit (LEO) Emergency Communication Portable) to accelerate recovery. LECPs are roughly the size of carry-on luggage, and these lightweight devices provide alternative backhaul to quickly restore service when traditional connections are disrupted or damaged.

We also continue to refuel generators supporting cell sites affected by power outages and will do so until power returns. In times like these, the essential need for dependable connectivity becomes especially clear. With more than $1 billion invested since its inception three decades ago, our Network Disaster Recovery (NDR) program stands as the largest of its kind in the industry.

Alongside NDR, the FirstNet Response Operations Group™ (ROG) continues to coordinate on the ground with local officials and response partners to help ensure dedicated, reliable connectivity for public safety.
