Across two distinctly different markets, a 60-plus site network in a major metropolitan area and a customer-experience-focused deployment in a rural market, Aglocell’s SpectraMax software demonstrated that carriers can unlock significant new value from their existing infrastructure without the cost and complexity of expensive network capacity buildouts.

The results come at a critical time for the wireless industry. According to Dell’Oro Group, Radio Access Network (RAN) capital expenditure is forecast to remain flat or decline over the next five years, forcing carriers to find more cost efficient ways to improve network capacity, quality and experience. Aglocell deployed SpectraMax across 60-plus cell sites in a major U.S. city and achieved a 4.1% network-wide capacity increase during the peak busy hour, the equivalent of approximately one terabyte of additional data throughput. In carrier terms, that gain represents one-third of a full new frequency layer, a physical buildout that would typically cost the operator $43,000 per cell site, or nearly $2.6 million across those 60-plus sites. Rural Market Case Study: Improving the Everyday Customer Experience
In a separate trial in a more rural area, Aglocell addressed a different customer challenge: the quality of everyday wireless service. Using SpectraMax with newly enhanced optimization features, Aglocell improved network quality, elevating the carrier’s RootMetrics® US Overall RootScore®, which is a composite score made of numerous network quality measurements.
During this trial, SpectraMax showed dramatic improvement in several areas including call handling, reliability and responsiveness. Call handling evaluates how reliably a call can be initiated and held without dropping. Reliability measures the ability to access the network without blocks and drops. Responsiveness measures how quickly and smoothly the network handles common user tasks like browsing or launching applications. The improvement in these areas helped boost the overall network ranking into a first-place tie in the test market. The carrier has previously correlated similar network performance gains with measurable improvements in customer satisfaction scores and growth in subscriber revenue.
