Amphenol Network Solutions Launches PIVOT Fiber Panel to Support AI-Scale Data Center Growth

New 1RU fiber panel supports 192 LC connections, helping AI and hyperscale operators scale capacity without giving up serviceability

LIBERTY LAKE, WA — July 21st, 2026 — Amphenol Network Solutions has announced the launch of PIVOT™ Fiber Distribution Panel, a new fiber distribution panel designed to help data centers support more connections in the same amount of rack space.

As AI and cloud applications grow, data centers need to move more information at faster speeds. That requires significantly more fiber connections, creating new pressure on already limited rack space. Traditional high-density fiber panels have historically capped out at 144 LC connections per rack unit, often forcing operators to dedicate additional rack space as networks scale. PIVOT helps solve that challenge by fitting more fiber into a compact 1RU panel without sacrificing service access or maintainability. Its patent-pending mid-plane connector architecture becomes accessible through a pivoting front module, placing a forward connector row in front of a recessed center row. During maintenance, the front row pivots down to expose the center row, giving technicians clear access for inspection, cleaning, and mating without disturbing adjacent circuits. Each module is also mounted on a sliding service tray to improve access in dense environments. The design also maximizes unused cabinet depth in standard 4-post racks, enabling higher density without increasing rack footprint.

PIVOT is engineered for 400G and 800G networks and future-ready for 1.6T and 3.2T architectures. The chassis can support 24 400G/800G circuits in 1RU, compared to 18 circuits in traditional designs. What previously required four rack units can now be achieved in three. Across a 42U rack, that can free up as much as 10U for additional networking, compute, power, or other critical infrastructure, helping operators improve rack utilization and delay costly infrastructure expansion. In AI and hyperscale applications, this also enables higher MPO8 port counts optimized for AI cluster architectures and simplified breakout architectures.

The platform is designed for a wide range of deployments, including hyperscale AI clusters, telecom central offices, breakout applications, and high-density aggregation environments, addressing infrastructure pressures common to both markets: density, scalability, serviceability, and migration to higher-speed optical architectures.
