CityFibre extends partnership with VodafoneThree

  • Supporting VodafoneThree’s £11bn investment to build the UK’s best network, CityFibre secures new mobile network transmission contract to enable 5G Standalone ambitions
  • This builds on CityFibre’s position as a preferred supplier of digital infrastructure, supporting VodafoneThree’s retail broadband services, enabling greater capacity, faster speeds and innovative new retail broadband products
  • The long-term partnership makes the most of CityFibre’s growing full fibre network, at over 4.7m premises today with plans to reach more than 8m

22 July, London: CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, has extended its long-term partnership with VodafoneThree, becoming a preferred supplier for network transmission to connect a number of its mobile sites across the UK underpinning its ambitious 5G Standalone build.

CityFibre’s digital infrastructure will support VodafoneThree’s retail broadband services, the fastest growing in the UK, and reaches over 4.7m premises today.

The agreement also includes CityFibre’s future network growth, which will exceed 8m premises, enabling VodafoneThree’s continued growth in the broadband market. Vodafone anchored CityFibre’s nationwide residential full fibre rollout, the first in the UK, and the companies have worked closely together to develop the market.

Over 330,000 Vodafone residential broadband customers are already connected to CityFibre, with services including Vodafone’s ultrafast 2.2Gbps symmetrical home broadband service, available exclusively on CityFibre’s 10Gb XGS-PON network. These market-leading broadband services are enabling Vodafone to achieve a high rate of take-up over CityFibre’s footprint.

As VodafoneThree continues to grow and roll out new services, CityFibre will remain a preferred supplier in areas where its network is available, with potential opportunities to support selected VodafoneThree mobile sites as part of their £11bn investment programme to build the UK’s best network.

Simon Holden, CEO, CityFibre, said: “CityFibre has digital infrastructure built for the future, enabling our partners to deliver an unbeatable service to their customers. CityFibre has grown with Vodafone and Three’s support, becoming the UK’s wholesale provider of choice, and we are delighted to be a key part of VodafoneThree’s vision as it continues to invest and innovate.”

Max Taylor, CEO, VodafoneThree, said: “Our mission is to build the UK’s best network and connect every nation, every community, in every corner of the UK, taking 5G Standalone further than any other operator. This partnership with CityFibre supports our ambitions and includes enabling VodafoneThree’s continued growth in the broadband market, bringing our fastest, most reliable broadband to customers in more places.
