Surging demand for DE-CIX Mexico’s new Google VPP service amid strong traffic growth on the exchange

Mexico City/Queretaro (Mexico). DE-CIX Mexico, the Mexican subsidiary of the world’s leading Internet Exchange (IX) operator, today announces implementation of their Google Verified Peering Provider (VPP) service (Gold status), the first IX operator in the country to offer the simplified interconnection solution towards Google resources. The implementation, which took place at the end of March, has already been so popular with Mexican customers that DE-CIX is in the process of doubling their capacity to Google in Queretaro to meet the demand. Distributed across multiple data centers in Mexico City and Queretaro, DE-CIX Mexico continues to see surging growth in its traffic levels, having risen a further 30% since late February 2026 and reaching close to 250 Gigabits per second (Gbit/s) in mid-April.

Enterprise-grade connectivity to support wholesale ISPs and enterprise customers

The Google VPP Program identifies and endorses ISPs and IXs that provide diverse and highly available connectivity to Google’s global network. For Google customers in Mexico, whether a small business or a large enterprise, using a VPP service helps to ensure that their connection to Google is as available as possible. Smaller ISPs and network operators that are unable to fulfil Google’s more stringent peering requirements can thus depend on DE-CIX’s expertise and resources to serve customer needs by ensuring connectivity to Google services, resources, and workloads in Google Cloud.

DE-CIX Mexico’s offer of enterprise-grade connectivity to Google means that DE-CIX customers like Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and ISPs can use DE-CIX’s VPP status to provide highly resilient access to Google’s services. It also means that enterprises that access Google Workspace or consume SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) or other Internet-facing applications hosted on Google Cloud can gain direct access to reliable and dedicated connectivity to support their business operations through the IX operator.

“We are delighted to see the strong demand and accelerating usage of our new Google VPP service among Mexican customers,” says Omar Vega, DE-CIX Regional Sales Manager for Mexico. “Secure, resilient, high-performance, and highly available access to clouds and applications supports the digital transformation of Mexican enterprises – and we are proud to play an important role in this journey. As the only IX in Mexico offering the VPP service, DE-CIX – with VPP Gold status – provides connected ISPs with a competitive advantage in a strongly dynamic market.”

Access to Google only possible through Verified Peering Providers

Many Google customers today are not prepared to manage complex direct peering connections, or don’t meet the requirements to do so. As a result, Google only peers with networks and IXs that meet its requirements for expertise, resources, and redundant connectivity. To enable peering with Google, certain ISPs and IXs have been granted the status of a VPP. VPPs manage direct peering with Google over dedicated private connectivity with redundancy requirements for each enrolled provider.

Google customers who choose to connect through a VPP to reach Google leverage infrastructure that delivers highly-reliable services including Google Search, Google Ads, YouTube, and more. Any Google service reachable over the Internet can be consumed through a Verified Peering Provider. In the case of Internet Exchanges, a VPP-certified IX like DE-CIX can integrate Google into their service provision, enabling the IX’s network to operate as the peering partner for its connected networks. When Google customers connect to a VPP to reach Google, they are choosing a provider that has verified diverse connectivity.
