São Paulo, Brazil, 16 March 2026: TelCables Brasil, a subsidiary of the Angola Cables group, has begun operating three Points of Presence (PoPs) in Belo Horizonte, a growing city in Minas Gerais – a state in the south eastern part of the country. The new PoPs are located at three data centers in the capital of Minas Gerais: Sonda, Century, and Sempre Telecom and the company expands traffic exchange points in the region and improves access from local networks to international routes. This brings to ten, the number of PoPs the company now has in Brazil.
The expansion broadens the company’s reach in Brazil and strengthens its offering of IP Transit, data transport, and interconnection services for regional internet service providers (ISPs), operators, data centers, and companies requiring high-capacity connectivity.
According to TelCables, the local presence allows for shorter routes for data traffic and improves the performance of time-sensitive applications. The expansion of infrastructure in Belo Horizonte reinforces TelCables’ strategy of bringing its network closer to customers and partners, creating new interconnection points that increase traffic efficiency and expand access to the global Angola Cables network. Furthermore, the expansion increases the network’s resilience and redundancy, with more traffic engineering options and alternative routes. The infrastructure has also been scaled to support the growth in demand for broadband, data traffic, and digital services in the region.
For customers, the infrastructure expansion brings operational gains such as improved network performance, greater connection stability, and more local interconnection options, as well as greater capacity for traffic expansion. The expanded presence in Belo Horizonte also strengthens the regional digital ecosystem by facilitating interconnection between providers, companies, content platforms, and data center infrastructure.
TelCables is presently evaluating new investments in digital infrastructure in the capital of Minas Gerais, including the future deployment of a cloud node which will bring computing and storage resources closer to end users and will further reduce application latency.
