DE-CIX celebrates first year in Brazil with high-capacity, AI-ready infrastructure

Brazil gains direct Google Peering via DE-CIX, strengthening regional connectivity

São Paulo, Brazil. DE-CIX, the world’s leading Internet Exchange operator, is marking its first anniversary in Brazil with a major announcement: Google peering is now live at DE-CIX São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, making them the first and only Internet Exchanges in the region to offer this capability. This launch, combined with a year of strong growth across DE-CIX’s high-performance platforms in the country, underscores Brazil’s rising importance as a critical hub for Latin America’s digital infrastructure.

Since launching one year ago, DE-CIX has built a neutral, scalable interconnection platform meeting Brazil’s surging demand for cloud services, content delivery, AI, and data-intensive applications. The Brazilian market’s appetite for high-capacity infrastructure was evident from the start, with 76% of connections operating at 100 Gigabit Ethernet from launch, far surpassing typical market adoption rates and signaling Brazil’s readiness for next-generation connectivity.

Now, as a Gold VPP partner of Google, DE-CIX is making Google prefixes consumable at its IXs through its peering service. Smaller Brazilian ISPs and network operators that are unable to fulfil Google’s more stringent peering requirements can thus depend on DE-CIX’s expertise and resources to enable connectivity to Google services, resources, and workloads in Google Cloud. This direct access reduces latency, optimizes performance, and improves user experience, particularly critical for AI-driven services, video platforms, and cloud workloads that demand both high bandwidth and low latency.

Today, DE-CIX’s Brazilian platforms connect a growing community of local and international carriers, ISPs, and enterprise networks across multiple data centers. São Paulo and Rio are fully interconnected and extend directly to DE-CIX sites in North America and Europe, creating seamless regional and transatlantic connectivity. This enables connected customers to reach thousands of local, regional, and international networks that together form the largest interconnection ecosystem in the world. DE-CIX’s IXs fill a gap in the Brazilian market with their range of SLA-backed enterprise-grade Connectivity Solutions, as well as increasing redundancy and resiliency options for Brazilian network operators.

“Our first year confirms Brazil’s strategic role in the global Internet ecosystem, and launching Google peering at DE-CIX São Paulo and Rio takes this to the next level,” says Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX. “We’re seeing strong demand for high-capacity, low-latency interconnection driven by cloud platforms, digital services, and emerging AI workloads.”

Brazil’s position is further strengthened by national AI initiatives, robust regulatory frameworks, and a renewable-heavy energy mix that attracts next-generation digital infrastructure. Darwin da Costa, Regional Director, DE-CIX Brazil & South America, notes: “The market response has been impressive. Networks and enterprises are seeking higher bandwidth today while planning for tomorrow’s growth. With Google peering now available, we’re giving the Brazilian market a powerful tool to enhance connectivity and service delivery across the region.”
