11 March, LONDON: AllPoints Fibre Networks (APFN) has launched Multi-Gig FTTP services on its aquila platform through a partnership with CityFibre. This gives channel partners access to a new enhanced tier of 1.7Gbps and 2.3Gbps FTTP speeds for consumers and businesses, across the UK’s largest 10Gb XGS-PON full fibre network.
The launch enables APFN partners to consume CityFibre’s XGS-PON powered Multi-Gig services directly through aquila, with no additional integrations or operational complexity. The new FTTP services sit alongside existing fibre and ethernet products and are managed through a unified wholesale platform.
This is APFN’s second major platform release in the last four weeks, demonstrating its commitment to creating a friction-free route to market for the very best in connectivity. Last month, it was announced that aquila partners would benefit from the addition of Ethernet products thorough Sky Business Wholesale.
CityFibre’s nationwide full fibre network passes more than 4.7 million premises with plans to reach more than 8 million premises across consumer, business, mobile and public sector sites. XGS-PON architecture supports symmetrical multi-gigabit performance and 10Gbps-class capacity at network level, enabling aquila partners to introduce a clear premium tier above traditional <1Gbps gigabit-capable services and offers clear indication for even higher speeds to become part of the APFN/aquila portfolio in future.
Timing is key and as gigabit broadband becomes an expected standard across the market, Multi-Gig creates a meaningful differentiation opportunity for the market and some headroom for future demand. For ISPs, MSPs and resellers, today, Multi-Gig services create an opportunity to target or protect prosumer users and growing SMEs with greater upload and download performance, until now, only complex enterprise products like Ethernet offered a way to meet demands of high value customers.
