Washington, D.C. (Novemeber 12, 2025) – Today, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, together with major federal law enforcement and interagency partners, announced the creation of a Scam Center Strike Force. This Strike Force will target and dismantle criminal scam networks across Southeast Asia defrauding millions of Americans every year.
USTelecom and its Industry Traceback Group (ITG) celebrate the U.S. government taking the crucial step of forming this task force, and we look forward to cooperating with its efforts. America’s broadband industry works every day to protect Americans from illegal robocalls and scams, trace suspected illegal calls back to their source, support law enforcement in shutting down criminal fraudsters, and build and advocate for modern networks that support the best anti-scam technology available.
The following statement is form USTelecom President and CEO Jonathan Spalter:
“This Strike Force is a powerful new tool in America’s anti-scam arsenal. The broadband industry is at the barricade, standing shoulder to shoulder with our partners in government, ready to help expose and disrupt the criminal networks in Southeast Asia stealing Americans’ hard-earned savings.
These criminal enterprises, often using forced labor, steal billions of dollars globally, undermine trust in our networks, and fuel other illicit activity. We are ready to continue the strong public-private partnership the ITG has with law enforcement, including this Strike Force, to shut down these nefarious networks at their source.”
